A Velux solar hot water system is different from competitor systems because it is supplied as a single, complete package, containing all of the elements necessary for installation. This includes solar collectors, underfelt sealing collars, appropriate flashings, control unit/pump station, dual coil hot water cylinder, pre-insulated flow & return pipes, micro air bubble separator and safety mixer valve to ensure a constant supply of safe hot water to taps. Velux solar cylinders are also easy to connect to existing heating systems.
To operate a building without producing carbon dioxide emissions requires renewable, zero carbon sources of energy to provide both heat and power. Harnessing solar energy is one of the most attractive and renewable means of generating zero carbon energy and the roof is the ideal surface for solar energy collection. Since 1997 Redland has been a leading supplier of roof-integrated solar systems in the UK and from April 1st 2010 the demand for such systems is expected to grow dramatically. Monier's second generation of PV tiles encompasses five new roof tile specific PV systems - each developed to match one of our most popular tile ranges. Each one has been designed for performance, ease of installation and good looks, and offers significant benefits in all three areas over 'above the roof' panel systems where poor installation can compromise the roof structure. The Solar Water Heating systems are also designed to fit seamlessly alongside the tiles, whilst utilising the power of the sun to provide environmentally friendly hot water. The hot water generated reduces the energy demand on the boiler system, and when correctly sized can provide up to 70% of a typical households' hot water requirement.
