This almost black slate is produced in the Armadilla quarry in Benuza (León) Spain. It was chosen for the renown and very beautiful Havenhuis port house roof in Antwerp by Zaza Hadid. Importantly for the UK the R4 Excellence has been approved for use in the Snowdonia National Park.
Once the process of crafting the slate in the quarry is complete, each piece is assessed along different technical and aesthetic guidelines in order to be classified into the following two selections for you to choose from:

These slates often are chosen by experienced installers who are able to work the slate on the roof and guarantee a homogeneous result.
