Patination oil provides a protective layer on new lead and leadwork which is being restored. It minimises unsightly staining on the newly applied lead and the materials below, whilst imparting a pleasing appearance to newly applied lead sheet and flashings.
The patination oil should be applied as soon as possible after installing new lead such as immediately after each step of the leadwork has been completed. Use a soft absorbent cloth, working horizontally from top to bottom whilst maintaining a wet lower edge.
- A surface treatment that prevents Lead carbonate from forming on the surface of Lead Sheet.
