CUPA H12 Slate complimented by Cure It GRP

Ashcourt Ltd had a complicated build to embark on in Brough, East Yorkshire.  Their skilled Roofer James Green explains how they undertook the Mansard Roof with a series of solutions. This East Yorkshire property had flat and pitched roofing elevations to contend with.

For the pitched aspect James specified CUPA H12 , a natural Spanish dark grey slate with thin laminations and a smooth surface. These slates are split to an average thickness of 5mm to 6mm making them a perfect choice for uniformity and longevity.

The low pitched section of the Mansard roof utilise’s CURE IT GRP, a hard wearing, structural waterproofing resin system . The rich dark grey topcoat compliments perfectly with the roofing slate. The 20 year materials guarantee and the fact it's fire retardant all aided the decision process for using this resin.

We installed a VELUX Flat Roof Dome to the centre of the roof bringing natural light to the interior of the building. Flat roof windows can dramatically change a room, they’re the fastest way to add natural light, ventilation and the feeling of openness to your under roof spaces. The impact in terms of daylight and fresh air is stunning.

Finishing the roof are Artstone buff ridge tiles. They add contrast to the deep colours of the slate and echos with the chimney pots and cowls.

This epic build is a true testament to the roofer, testing the differing skills required by this unique roof.
